The Altar Curtain “Holy Spirit”

Description

Katapetasma (Greek: καταπέτασμα — curtain).
The altar curtain is located in the church behind the Royal Gates from the side of the altar. It closes and opens during the divine service, in accordance with the order of the church services.

You can see the composition of a prepared Throne, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and winged Cherubs which is embroidered on the curtain. There is a Byzantine-style cross with precious stones in decorative plaques (miniature inserts in church jewelry) and pearls in the centre.

The altar curtain is embroidered with silk and metal threads.
Fabric – satin in burgundy colour.
